Round 2 of the Portuguese 1/8 National Championship was held on May 7/8 in Torres Novas near Lisbon. Practice runs were held Saturday, with all pilots trying to find the best set-up for the track. Right from the start, CRP pilot José Pequito with his RX8 with the basic set-up proved to be the quickest pilot on the track.

On Sunday morning the track was wet because of the rain that fell during the night. All of the grip we enjoyed on Saturday was lost. The track started to regain grip as the day progressed through the qualifying runs, and so the times started to improve as well. With 16 pilots present in this round, everyone expected it to be a very competitive race. Top contenders were CRP/XRAY pilot José Pequito and Mugen pilot Bruno Coelho. By the end of the four qualifying rounds, José Pequito had the best time (28 laps @ 7:06,344), with Bruno Coelho following only 2 seconds behind.

Finals were held in the afternoon. As expected, both semi-finals were dominated by the top contenders. The ‶B※ semi-final was won by Bruno Coelho with 79 laps @ 20:02.090. The ‶A※ semi-final was won by the CRP/XRAY driver JosĂ© Pequito with 78 laps @ 20:08,248. The final was expected to be very competitive, but it turned out that instead of the usual 45 minutes the race program was configured for only 30 minutes and this error was only discovered midway into the race. So an extra 15 minutes was added after the 30 minutes to complete the race, this situation is covered in the regulation of the championship.
